The Panhandle is flat and windy—and breathtakingly gorgeous
There is beauty everywhere in Texas—you just have to look. I’ve been to the Panhandle many times. It’s so expansive that “just right over there” might mean 20-plus miles away and a 45-minute drive on an old dirt road. My mind wants to remember that part of Texas as merely flat and windy. But recently, I saw parts of the Panhandle through the eyes of a good friend who loves it and who was kind enough to show me why. I shot this scene on a quiet stretch of road, Highway 207, where the Palo Duro Canyon begins. “It’ll take your breath away,” he said. He was right.
